GeForce3 can be preordered at a price of about $550 now. Is the GeForce3 worth the price? Under antialiasing modes, GeForce3 gets ahead Voodoo5 6000 by +18% to +41%. Is it a good deal to get a GeForce3 that is not only faster than Voodoo5 6000 but also having extra features such as hardware T&L and DirectX 8.0 compliance with a lower price? First off, Only idiots are gonna buy a Geforce3 when they first come out. I am only gonna get one if my friend gives me one for free. Second, 3DFX is dead dude, move on.....
 
The GeForce 3 won't be worth the money until games begin taking advantage of all the features it has to offer. If you buy it now, you're buying it for bragging rights--whoop de doo. "Doom 3" is what is going to sell this video card, and that game has a long way to go before it hits the gaming store shelves.

at that price, both of them are a joke. if the geforce3 were $200 and had the ATI radeon's 2d quality, i'd praise it as the greatest thing ever made. However its $500 and we dont know about the 2d yet, but i doubt they fixed it, so just for being $500 its a piece of crap

I'd rather buy a Voodoo 5 5500 and spend the 2-300 bucks I'd save on beer and I wouldn't know the difference.
 
Ben, a board based on what the V5-6000 is available, that I understand.

however, as the board never had drivers developed for gaming, it's really a moot point, the V5-6000 (as it was meant to be) simply doesn't exist.
 
The fact is if you spend that kind of money on any video card,you want to make sure you have long term driver support,afterall it makes sense.

I'd rather(and have) buy a Voodoo5 for £99 and spend the £350 I saved on beer, sex, drugs and rock'n'roll! I'd expect the GF3 to sh@g me missus aswell for that price!
 
"blazing" sounds more like a comment on speed than quality, i know its fast but i dont need a faster card than my v5, espesialy if it looks worse.
 
There are NO vodoo 5 6000's man those cards were never on the shelf. There are only demo's floating around. Second off WAIT TIL DIRECT x8 games hit the market we will see what is up then. Until that day buy an ultra for 300 bucks man or a GTS pro for 200 or a geforce mx 64 for 130 just move on to a newer card you cheap skate... 😉
 
Wait till its proven. Now it's a race car in rush hour traffic. High performance, but can't take advantage of it.
