Thanks for the heads-up. I've been looking into buying a GF3 but will probably hold off now.

Wow! That's some heavy news...we prolly won't see any of these Itanium thingees until at least the end of 2002, maybe later. Wow, just think; $45 GF3's! :D

I am not surprizedit considering that fact that something from Nvidia is due out soon any way. Its pretty obvious Nvida these days is diversiflying after getting 200 mil from MS...going in sound, and MoBo chip sets now....Titanium Chip set.....
As a owner of a Ge-Force 3, not big deal , when u pay $350 bucks for a video card, we all know that we are only buying the best for around 6 months...honestly, if u need a GF 3 because u really need it coz your video card u currently sucks, get one by all means..On the positive side, the would get cheaper....so hold off a while.....As for the article... Geforce 2 Ti , gefroce 3 ti 300 , Gf 3 ti 500 ....
don't understand why u Nvida would want a new Geforce 2 part thou? makes no sense for marketing....
But honestly, I reckon there is really no point for nvidia to realease a new chip at the moment, GeForce 3 is king and its still commands a Premium price..I would cash in on for a longer time....Its not in the intrest of its shareholder at all...after so much $R&D was put into it, make as much money from it until u really need to change it...changing the top line video card also tends to dissapoint ppl which brought them too...

Yah it is some good news. Just thought I would post it here since everyone has a right to now. AnandTech is now a commercial site not an enthusiast site anymore so this type of hard hitting reporting will never make it on the news page here...

I dunno when the chip will come out, you have to keep reading electic.com for that. They eventually follow up with more news on the subject. They also said the GeForce3 Go will hit fabs at the end of this year if you have been reading electic. So I assume it should be at the end of this year that we see some Titanium action.

That would make me cry...a $45 gf3 lol

Honestly...if they phase out GF3 b4 any real games for it come out...I'm gonna die of laughter...:D I knew ppl shoulda held off...there's no point to getting a GF3 as of now; nothing to use it on

The new chips are probably just renamed GF3 chips just like the MX was renamed MX200 and MX400.

If anyone bothered to look at the pdf file (complete with oddly fuzzy headers/footers... hmm) you could see it is just a rename. There will be GF3 Ti's and GF2 Ti's. This is going to be a GF3 Ultra or something of the sort, if it is really real.

Read the PDF. These seem to be renamed GF3s. The GF3 Ti 500 looks to be an Ultra part and the 200 an MX part. The interesting thing is though they claim to have an enhanced nFiniteFX engine. So maybe they boosted the shaders to match the Radeon?

Hey, I still remember a friend of mine who built the top-of-the-line Quake machine on a P2-333 with dual Voodoo (2x 12MB Voodoo1's linked together) and spent a fortune on it. :)
