I"ve been out of the loop for a while.... all I remember is that the Ti500 was better than the Ti200, and that the Ti4200s were only marginally better than the Ti500.

Basically, I'm trying to extrapolate where my lowly card stands in 's little D3 roundup. I'm sure I'll autodetect to low settings, but I hope my Ti200 is significantly better than a GF4 MX400. (As I remember, it is significantly better, but I'm looking for confirmation)

If my Ti200 will happily churn out D3 without too many hiccups, I'll be able to hold out 9 more months or so before a video upgrade since I leave for school at the end of August and don't plan to game too heavily during the year.

The link u posted does not contain any GF3's....
Anyways, look at this link. I know its not your system, but an 8500 is the most directly compared to a GF3TI200 on this entire review.

Also the processor may be a bit higher then urs so u may want to average it with this link:

Note that your graphics card is better then this one also and your processor may be a bit better also, thats y i said to average them.

Ti200 is not bad.. I had mine overclocked to near Ti500 speeds, and it ran (and still does) like a champ

it's nothing like a new generation videocard, but they do the job very well in most older games.

If you have a Ti200 you should overclock the living sh1t out of it.

First, it's underpowered for todays stuff so it needs it. Second, that card was known to overclock well - even up to Ti500 speeds. Third, it's cheap these days so there is little danger in overclocking.

Memory speed will make the greatest difference.

I dunno about D3, but my geforce2 pro could handle any of the current games (well, by handle I mean 800x600, settings btwn low and medium)...so if you dont' want to spend more $$, you shoudl be ok.

It is all about what you find acceptable gameplay. You will get a ton of bozos that tell you that you must have a new generation card, but honestly a card can last a LONG time if you are willing to take a performance hit. The radeon 8500 in my wifes machine plays most things very well at 10x7 at medium settings.

I am between cards waiting for a 6800 gt deal, and while I wait I have to use a 64 MB radeon DDR vivo. The original radeon, on par with about a geforce 2.... IT runs everything I want it to at 10x7 as long as I have it set to low detail. It even runs the world of warcraft beta.

Sure everything looks pretty crappy but it runs. So it's up to you, and what YOU find acceptable. My advice is to buy doom 3, try it, and if you dont like it THEN upgrade.

I replaced a Ti200 in my machine and put it in my step-son's computer. He called me a few months later and said he wanted to do something to help his machine on some of the new games. I said that a faster CPU than the Athlon 750 would be my first choice for change. Well, he didn't listen and went to Best Buy and got a new video card. I think he got a 5200. After he installed it he called and said he could not tell much, if any, differnece. :) I have offered to put an Athlon 1.2GHz in his Asus board, if he will put SETI back on it. He has refused. Oh well! I have another Ti200 in my wife's XP1800+ and it runs great! She is not a gamer and all I ever run on it is There, which is very playable on it.

So, do as the others suggest and try D3 first before you spend money on an upgrade. I was able to get a pulled GF4 4600 for $50, which is the only reason I upgraded mine.
