Is there really compatibility issues with any geforce3 ti200 and an Abit KT7A motherboard?

I have:

KT7A
1ghz AXIA
SB Live
etc...
Visiontek GF3Ti200

I can't get the video card to run for the life of me. I started out coming from Win98 and a voodoo5. 3dmark2k1 does not run nor does any games. One time I did get it to run and got a score in the 4200's.

Did a fresh install with the GF3. No go, tried different drivers, no go.

Tried a different BIOS, no go.

Changed AGP Aperture to 128 no go.

Tried windowsXP still no go.

As soon as I get my ddr ram in I will be moving to an MSI K7T266 Pro with a KT266 chipset. I hope I don't have similar problems.

Looked on MadOnion's website- Plenty of KT7's and KT7A's running GF3's (Ti2 and 5's). Did you completelty remove your old drivers??? I used detonator destroyer to update drivers.

what exactly happens when you try and run these things? does your computer lockup?

i had a similiar problem where my computer would lockup and reboot anytime i tried to run any 3d accelerated apps. i was able to fix it after i did a reinstall of directx 8.1

I did several complete fresh installs because people kept telling me it was old drivers. That didn't work.

We posted @ the same time :) When I had 98 on there I updated to the newest directx I could find which was 8.0A. I have winXp on there now so I assume it also has 8.0A on there. Where can I find 8.1 at? Does XP not come with directx8 installed?

Lately it will completely lock up. Even with XP which is supposed to be able to recover when a program crashes. Sometimes it just won't run at all, but usually runs a little bit (and not that great) then craps out.

You geforce3 could be overheating, check tha fan that's on the chip and see if it's spinning normally, ( does not slow down to a point that's noticeable to your eyes)

How about your CPU, is it overheating, what's your FSB and multiplier, is it overclocked, try seting it at default. Also your ram set that to default too,

What about your power supply, have you been getting random resets lately?, If so, your power supply could be dying.

You can try these things to see which one is causing the problem.

Oh you can get DirectX 8.1 here,,

CPU and Video card are not overclocked at the moment. Everything is set to default except AGP Aperture. CPU runs cool as a cucumber and I make sure it runs cool. The fan on the video card spins free and fast, so fast it could propably take a limb off if it ever popped off. Ram is set to the slowest timings possible.

What drivers do you recommend? The "unofficial 22.80"? I know the latest aren't always the best. I just reinstalled winXP.

I'll install directx 8.1 now.

Thanks

For Windows XP:
Users of Windows XP do not need to install DirectX 8.1. DirectX 8.1 is included in the Windows XP operating system.

Looks like it isn't a directx8 problem.

I'm going to try my Enermax 350 to see if that helps, I do have an AMD approved 300W Antec in this box.

Well I got my ddr ram and have the geforce3 now in my MSI K7T266 Pro. 3dmark does now run but my scores still seem a little low: about 5100. It is definately an improvement over the 4300 I did get at one time, however a friend of mine that has the exact same setup but a faster processor got 6500 at default.
