Geforce3 and dual monitors?

If a gf3 has both vga and dvi out, does that mean it supports dual monitors, or what? Its been so long since i remember hearing about the advent of dual monitors, i can no longer remember. The reason i ask, is cuase i was thinking of trading my gf3 with a friends, cause his has both vga and dvi (he has a PNY, i have a Gainward). So, will this trade help me?
