Which is the better deal?

ASUS V6600 Pure, GeForce 256, 32MB SDRAM - $65
or
ASUS V7100, GeForce2 MX, 32MB SDRAM - $99

The geforce2 MX will beat the 256 SDR but not the DDR in speed. Get the MX.

there are a lot other brand MX for around $80 now, some are even retails, see newegg.com.
for $80 you could either get MX or Radeon LE now.

I would get a Radeon DDR LE and hack it... and overclock it. It has great 32 bit performance, dvd playback, and 2d quality. I have it, and it performs much better than my friends' Geforce 2 MX's.
