Forget to tell ya, it is Creative, at a price of about US$440, though I can't sure it is 32 or 64MB version.

If it's an Ultra, I believe it has to be 64 MB.

Sad thing is my 32 MB GTS now has to be replaced. And I just bought a car, so I have no money for a new video card.

Nope, due to shortage of "ultra high speed DDR RAM", 32MB version will also available too.

Just like I said before. Nvidia will be pissing off a lot of people who just plunked down their hard earned cash for a geforce2gts just to find out that it is obsolete.

That's the name of the game buddy. If you can't play by the rules, get out of the game ;). If you are upset b/c your card is 10-15% slower than a card that costs twice as much, then you have SERIOUS problems ;)

I only paid $188 for my GF2 GTS, and although I'm a little jealous that there's a faster card out... It doesn't bother me. It's actually more of a gleeful thing for me, knowing that I could top 8,000 3DMarks with an ultra as opposed to 7588 with my GTS.

Now I just have to figure out how to save the money...

:D

ok, do da math people:

Reviews show that 64mb gts 2 card vs. Gforce Ultra only shows a 15% increase in overall speed with little/no increase in image quality.

ok, now, figure a 200% increase in price (average)...

and you still think it's worth it?!? uhgg.. wait for the NV20 people.. Ultra would be alright, but it's nothing dramatic...

unless of course you're a spoiled little worm, then go for it and sell me your old one..and since your parents forked out the cash to begin with, you can sell me the gts 2 64mb cards for about 100 to 150$ right? hmmm...

Um.. I hate to break the news to you, but the NV20 will retail at a higher price than the Ultra. So I got to ask you, is the 25% improvement with the NV20 going to be worth it? Especially when only 2 months later your shiney new NV20 is now obsolete when they release the much faster NV20 Pro, or GTS, or whatever they want to call it.

The people who plunked down $500 for a NV20 will not be happy when Nvida comes out with a faster version only a couple of months later. They are guaranteed to do such a thing, so don't bitch when your expensive video card is now "second best".

snow patrol - Ya no good limey SOB. Oww! that hurt bad. I rang the number you gave me, they gave me another number and they just laughed at me. November can't come soon enough for me. But you already knew that, didn't ya.

Hey your V3 will be ready to become a £1 keyring about now won't it :D

Rudee - It depends on what card you upgrade from. Take snow patrol for instance. He'll notice a 1000% increase in frame rate over his Voodoo3. :p Muhahaha!!!

Shagga - I understand what your saying. But remember all the GeForce owners that were pissed when they shelled out a few hundred dollars for what they thought was the "best" only to have Nvida release the DDR and the GTS version all within one year. Now the Ultra? Yikes. That's a lot of money for second or third best.

Imagine now all the people that will gladly pay $500 to buy the Ultra or even the NV20 when it is released thinking they have the latest and the greatest. Now I can guarantee you these people will won't be pleased when the next reincarnation of the NV20 is released a couple of months later at a faster speed. Then a couple of months after than, yet another version of the NV20 will come out. Most likely 3 flavors of the NV20 will be released withing 6-8 months of each other.

Your best bet is to stay in the middle of the price/value curve and grab the GeForce Ultra in the spring/summer after the NV20 is released. It will most likely be at a much lower price. Then at this time next year, the NV20's will be somewhat affortable due to the fact that the NV25's will be announced.

Well, maybe all those people should be a bit smarter, and not buy technology as soon as it comes out.

depends on the SDRAM situation.. if high speed SDRAM is still in high demand, the price will be high, though the quantities will probably be better (after all, they should ramp up production of a high end, high demand product!).

I DO see quite a few shops selling snakesoup around around there. Now is Autumn, a good time for eating snakes!

Rudde

Anyone who buy P3-1GHz and think it will be the fastest for longer than 6 month is dumbass. This holds true for display cards and hard drives as well.

The best features for the right price is the way to go. Currently the Geforce2 MX is my top pick. The Geforce3 MX will probably be the next best thing.
