Geforce2 Pro Problems!!!

Hi,
I am currently having a problem with maxpayne. When i start the game it works fine and then freezes. There is colorfull stripes on the screen and the system locks up. I have to reset the system. It happens in maxpayne and quake3 and 3dmark2000. However 3dmark 2001 & UT works fine. I am unable to figure out the problem. I have tried reinstalling the OS several time but still no use. I use the latest drivers. My system config is as follows:

Have you tried running the DirectX diagnostics (dxdiag)?

The colorfull stripes sounds like a vid card memory problem. Is your card over-clocked? [edit]oops, I just saw that your card isn't overclocked [/edit] I get that same thing if I push the memory clock speed too high on my GF2 Pro.

If your card is not over-clocked, pull it and make sure there isn't dust caked on the board around the chips.

I was getting some psychedelic light shows on my old Voodoo2s a few years ago when playing games. I pulled the cards, cleaned the dust caked around the chips, and the cards worked fine again.

If this isn't it, try an earlier driver version, or the reference drivers if using the manufacturer's drivers, and vice-versa.
