GeForce2 MX quandary

Guys,

Trying to decide between a Hercules/Guillemot 3D Prophet II MX
and a Creative Labs Annihilator II MX. Has anyone seen any reviews
on the latter? It has DDR vs. the Hercules SDR memory. I play Q3
Rocket Arena & Half-life Team Fortress regularly. Other system specs..

K6/2-400, 64 MB, Diamond Flower P5BV3+/e mobo, Voodoo Banshee,
WD 13.6 gig

Appreciate any opinions/info.

Not sure how the Geforce MX will run with the K6-2 400 processor, but the Hercules retailProphet MX is the fastest MX available with 5.5 ns ram clocked at 183 Mhz. I have a Creative card and while it runs fine it is clocked slower (143 MHz) and the DDR ram is effectively neutralized by the 64 bit memory bus vs the SDR Geforces 128 bit memeory bus. Unless the creative card is a lot cheaper ( mine was only $20 cheaper, should have gone for the Hercules) go for the Hercules card. You might also consider adding additional ram. 64 mb probably isn't optimal for performance in the games you mention. And of course a processor/motherboard upgrade, down the road. 😉

P.S. I have heard that the oem or "white box" Prophet MX's come with cheaper 7 ns ram and are clocked at the standard 166 MHz and are to be avoided if max performance is the objective.
