GeForce2 MX Performance Problem

I just put in an Asus AGP-V7100 card in my PC. After i put it in, I ran 3DMark2000, and only got a score of 1445. From the reviews that i've read, the score should be much higher. The graphics are choppy. I tried reinstalling the drivers and reinstalling windows 2000, but i still get the same performance. What's wrong? I was thinking maybe it's my motherboard because i have a celeron 433 on a 440LX board. What should i do?

It's simple.
You have to go to change display/cpu setting ( number 4 in the 3Dmark screen ).
Once you're there, look for CPU optimization.
Set it to D3D hardware T&L.
I had the same problem 3 weeks ago.....That's what appen when you don't know how to use your new card corectly ;^)

Mikey, I am downloading 3DMark2000 right now. I have the ASUS 7100 and Win2K and 450 Celeron's (dual, though) and DirectX 8.

I'll let you know what my scores are momentarily.

OK, I'm done. Got blue screened in the 64MB texturing, so I turned it off.

Final score was 2340 in 1024x768, 16 Bit

Score was 2266 in 800x600, 32 Bit

There are a gruntch of GeForce tweak programs out there. The first one you need enables the advanced section of the Display properties. There is another where somebody has combined all the good registry changes into one handy .reg file. Do a few searches and a little research on your own. Do like everybody else has done, try out some of this stuff and see what it does.

You have a few things going against you for high 3DMark Scores, one is Win2000 video drivers are slower than Win 98 drivers, another is the LX chipset doesn't support AGP well and a fast AGP port boost 3DMark scores as well as a faster than 66MHz FBS. Save some dough for something like an Abit BF6 which is very Celeron overclocking friendly because of the 1 MHz FBS increment adjustments, you should be able to wring more speed out of that 433 which also help benchmarks.

I've read somewhere that if you're using directx8 with the geforce2 MX driver 7.xx you may have slowdown up to 30%, so if you're using those two thing add to that fact that you 're using win2k.....Well that may be one good raison for your poor performance.
By the way, in 3dmark2000 my score is 2600 in 1024, 24bits z- buffer and 32bits colors and my cpu is only 77mhz faster than your's.

Hey guys,
the problem is not the graphic card, it's the stupid celeron. On my celeron 400@500 I had about 2700 3d marks on 1024x728 16bit ( Elite bx mobo, 224 pc100 ram),

Now, I've upgraded to duron 700@912 and Abit kt7r, and 128 pc133 sdram.

The graphic card is Gf2 MX, Asus v7100 pure oc to 220/205 clock/memory

I HAVE 5500 3d marks!
the procesor makes a huge difference
