Hello all,
I just bought a new AsusV7700 32MB Geforce 2 GTS card. I have it installed and running but I am having some trouble with Half-life. What video modes do I use in Half-life? Do I select OpenGL or Direct3D? BTW this is running under Win2k Pro with SP1. fresh install with fresh install of Half-Life with all the latest patches/updates for it. Any help would be appreciated.

I think you need to run it in D3D....I am not sure about opengl with Gforce cards in HL. D3D probably won't look as good though.

Ditto for OpenGL. I'm running Win98 and HL doesn't even give me an option for D3D. Open GL works great. Good luck.

OpenGL is what you want.

You may want to change your refresh rate, look for PowerStrip or Nvidia refresh rate tweaker from tweak3d.com (I'm assuming you want to play games in higher than 60hz refresh rate).

OK 1 more question. IT seems to lock up when i try OpenGL.. the video just goes totaly dead. which driver should i let it use? you know to the left where it sayd video driver? should i leave it default? I used to have a V3 and this all worked fine.. Also what version of DirectX should i have.. I currently have 7 but can upgrade to 8 if needed.

thesync, I have a Geforce2 GTS, and I am using the current mfg drivers. I set CS to OpengL, and use the Default driver. make sure you have the current drivers for your card. I have been using DirectX7, and I have my resolution set to the same as my desktop resolution (1024 x 768 pixels).
