Sorry if this topic has been beaten to death. I am just wondering what kind of performance difference would these 2 cards have?

I have a VisionTek 32MB-DDR (Infineon) and my friend has a VisionTek 64MB (Hyundai). We ran 3DMark 2001 with our cards on the same machine but we hardly see the difference (actually the 32MB card I have outscored his 64MB. Is this because 3DMark tests are independent of how much memory you have on the card? Under what circumstances would the 64 MB version outperform the 32 counterpart? Thanks in advance.

the 32 MB outperformed the 64 MB (by a small margin) most likely due to the fact that all 32 mb cards use faster SGRAM while all 64 MB cards use the slower 32 MB ram. However, after the resolution goes up, the difference is negligable. As for the 32 vs 64 MB, for now the only thing the 64 MB will be useful for is FSAA since it will have more memory to store textures and wont have to rely on system memory as much. The 64 MB card will have longer lasting power than the 32 MB one, but if you're planning on replacing your card within the next 6 months / year, then dont bother getting the 64 MB one unless you REALLY like FSAA. And even then, skip the 64 MB GTS and go straight for the Geforce2 pro
