GeForce2 flavors. Which is best for the money?!

I understand that the GeForce2 MX is for all-around usuage; still very powerful, yet geared for office use as well. Then, the beastie of them all, ULTRA. I was just thinking of getting a MX or a GTS board. Comparable in price and performance (GTS slightly ahead in most cases). Which flavor should I go with? Thanks.

really depends on what your gonna do with one.... if your gonna play games over 800x600 resoloution your best bet is a GTS.

Depending on what you do, an MX is good enough for 1024x768x32 gaming as well. I played Quake III just fine with my MX. I usually got around 45fps with all the sliders maxed out.

my asus v7700 geforce2gts 32m rocks and its only $189 just dont use the asus drivers cause they dont work i.e suck!!! use the drivers off the nividia website and things will rock!!

From what i read, the MX has SDR RAM and the GTS has DDR, however, the GTS Ultra has a 250MHz core clock as opposed to the 3D Prophet 2 GTS which has a 350MHz core. I believe that's the real difference. Also, the Ultra has 2 added features: does 5 million more Polys/per sec, bringing it to 30 over the GTS's 25mil, and has ports for MPEG/Quicktime digital. Thought i'd just input.

For the $100 mark - Get a GeForce PRO DDR
For the $150 mark - Try A.) Radeon 64MB Engineering Sample B.) GTS2 32MB
For the $200 mark - GTS2 64MB
For the $350 makr - GTS2 64MB Ultra

An MX is great value dont get me wrong, but I assue people here are more performance orientated rather than the setteling type. Just make your descision and be happy with it.

I think Untamo has some pretty good recommendations there, except for a couple of things: those prices are a little low (biggest difference is the "$200" GF2 GTS 64MB, they're about $250), and you're probably better off with a GF2 PRO than a GF2 GTS 64MB, the price difference is only $20 or so, and the performance difference is quite big, especially since most PROs will reliably overclock to Ultra speeds.

Most pro's will do Ultra speeds, however I'm not off on the 64MB Version. I sell 'em for $200 all day long, usually a tad lower.
