hey, whats up guys,, this is my first time having to post in a forum , but now i reached a time when i have to ,
i recently built this system as listed below and when i was puting the thermaltake coolmod sink on the nv25 (ti4600)
i was using arctic silver 3 and when i put the card back in the pc strange things happend, it redetected my video card as an quatro xxl and flickering screens were present.. so i removed it, took the sink off to clean the arctic silver off and redo it. i think it somehow got on the transistors or somthing and was causing a glitch. so i cleaned with labratory alcohol and sprayed w/ a can o air..and re-did it. now i got it back in the pc and now it dont detect my plug n play monitor any more,, this has never hapend.. so i did a fresh install of xp hoping maybe it was some screwed up files from the glitch and the same result happens. now the vid card is working fine as far as i now, i just had to select my monitor from a list instead. so right now im trying to decide if its worth getting a ati 9600 pro or 9500 pro or not.
seeing the benchmarks from them it looks as if the ti4600 still has raw power for framerate and the only advantage of the other is when you step up to high 4xAA, i mean if im gonna get a new card to replace my ti4600 i think it should at least get higher 3d mark scores for the money,, right now the only card i can see upgrading to is 9800/9800pro.
does anyone think its worth the upgrade right now or am i better off waiting for the next gen of gpu's and the 9800 pro to drop 150$ . any input would be appreciated . thx
