GeForce Ti 4600 + Asus A7A 266 -Help!

Bought a Ti4600 the day they came out, been beating it relentlessly since then with pretty much any driver combo I can come up with, and still no APG texturing.

Here's what I got:

Asus A7A266 M/B
AMD Athlon 1.0GHz
512 MB Ram (1X256, 2X128)
SB Live!
Generic NIC

Old card, ATI 8500 worked fine and currently has a higher score in madonion than the GeForce 4 (5200 vs. 4820)

Here's what I've tried so far:

1) all new drivers from manufactures (asus, ali (alimagik chipset on the board,) visiontek, nvidia)
2) tried some beta drivers from ali for the AGP miniport
3) reloaded OS several times in the process of trying drivers, partly to make sure I got a clean install of drivers, and partly to eliminate a bogus IDE driver from ali (acer strikes again.... bastiches.)
4) replaced card with a new one from BestBuy, per Visiontek's lame tech support (guy was asking someone else every question I asked him.... sweeeeeet.)

Also tried some drivers for an ASUS card with same chipset, no joy.

Any insight is greatly appreciated!

The latest AGP driver for your board is version 1.83.

What do you have the AGP Aperture size in the BIOS set to?

What program is telling you that AGP texturing is disabled?

Yep, got that.

<< What do you have the AGP Aperture size in the BIOS set to? >>

AGP aperture size is 128MB

<< What program is telling you that AGP texturing is disabled? >>

dxdiag, the disable button for AGP Texture Acceleration is grayed out (it is enabled when using the ATI card. First thing I noticed after installing the card was the mad-onion score was horrible, then in game play, great blocks of textures were black, instead of rendered.

I ran into the EXACT same problem. My Geforce 4600 will not play with Windows ME. Windows XP works fine but no matter what driver I tried, I got the bluescreen of death. And I did the same as you trying different drivers from all over. My old card still works fine with the new drivers but the new card wont. So, I had to surrender to XP. I'm going to be reporting this issue to gainward today. Good thign I had 2 OSs going.

Believe me, you are not alone in this problem.

Hhmm...I just checked over my own system...A7A266-E with a GeForce 3 Ti 500.

For 3dMark2001SE, it says my texture memory is 0, but I don't have graphical glitches. Running Win2K. I'll find out more about this.

For what it's worth, I just got back from a buddies place, and the card was fine in his machine. He has the same card, so we swapped em, and no problems. So it seems it is definately a glitch with my machine somewhere. I really appreciate your help!

What OS are you using?

I wasent able to get AGP texturing with my GF3 and GF2 ultra when I had them, I think this prob has been going on for a LONG time.

Saw this at Riva3D,

<< Here's a good note from Matt over at 3DGPU:

I've found an issue with the latest Detonator drivers not enabling AGP on those who have a motherboard that uses the ALi Magick 1 chipset. Fortunately, I've found the solution to the problem, and a lot of people are finding it works great. It gives a boost of over 20fps in every game, and over 2000 3DMarks. I've posted the solution on how to fix it on 3DGPU.
