GeForce T&L/AGP texturing not working in Windows 2000!!!

To make the long story short, here is my benchmarkings:

Windows 98 SE nVidia 5.16 reference driver

Fillrate (single): 525.0
Fillrate (multi): 593.5

High polygon count (1 light): 8955
High polygon count (4 lights): 5747
High polygon count (8 lights): 3270

8MB texture rendering speed: 384.5
16MB texture rendering speed: 330.6
32MB texture rendering speed: 201.0

Windows 2000 nVidia 5.22 reference driver

Fillrate (single): 507.3
Fillrate (multi): 593.2

High polygon count (1 light): 2377
High polygon count (4 lights): 1494
High polygon count (8 lights): 763

8MB texture rendering speed: 358.1
16MB texture rendering speed: 301.6
32MB texture rendering speed: 140.2

Hardware config
They are exactly the same:
550E@847
BX mobo
256MB SDRAM
Asus V6800 at 150/350
Clean windows installation

As you can see, in both case the fillrate is almost the same. But in Windows 2000 the high polygon counts drop to only 1/4th of the scores in Windows 98 SE. The AGP texturings also decrease a lot.

Anyone knows what's the problem? Looks like driver issue, or something messes up with my system?

Why don't you grab the new drivers. There are win2k 5.25 or something like that out.

Sharkeeper, any fix for the broken AGP texturing in W2K?

Thorin, will 5.25 do the magic? I'm willing to try, but I'm on 56k right now. :p

I can't say for sure.....dig around for the latest driver reviews. But it can never hurt to have the latest release (leak).

Tried 5.25, it is still the same. :(

Should I notify nVidia my findings in hope they will send me a NV20 for preview? :p

Actually, AGP texturing worked for me using 5.13 drivers (and Leadtek 5.13-based), and it sometimes worked with 5.22 but sometimes didn't. Also, D3D polygon throughput was sometimes speed-impaired. I wonder how much is Win2000 fault.

BTW 3Dmark2000 doesn't officially support Win20000.

Leo, can u recommend a reliable game or application so that I can test T&L and AGP function of my GeForce in Windows 2000? I guess you are right, the problem could be from 3DMark2000 itself.

Below is the WCPUID AGP info, I think my system AGP is working fine:

I can try, but quite honestly I've been having problems with DX7 after I installed the beta DX8 SDK. Many DX7 apps no longer function properly. I've tried copying the files from Win2000 CD back, which restored some applications but not others. I'll see what I can do.

BTW it seems the DX8 works fine under Win2000, and it might work better than DX7 did. Two possible reasons: 1) DX8 was written from the ground up to work w/Win2000, and 2) the X-box will use the Win2000 kernel! It should be (I think) a couple more months before MS releases the final DX8.

Now Madonion released a patch for Windows2000, does this fix the problem?
