I tried ATI x1800 XT CrossFireD (two cards) on ASUS A8NMVP board with Opteron 170 and 2GB RAM. Played Need4Speed Most Wanted and Batlefield 2, both games jittered alot on me. Returned Systemboard and both video cards and brought 2x SLi BFG nVidia Geforce 7800 GT OC 256 and ASUS A8N Deluxe nForce4 board. Both games worked MUCH better than with ATIs... And now they came out with X1900series!!! Darn! :shocked:

I hope you didn't assume that neither ATI nor nVidia would make any new cards in the future. There were many rumors reporting that R580 would appear shortly into 2006-- even before the x1800s were launched in October. You have to do a good deal of reading and research to be an informed buyer.

And part of being an informed buyer is knowing that 2 cards aren't always better than 1. What monitor are you using? What resolution? What power supply? What games are you playing? At what settings? etc, etc, etc.

RD580 + X1900XT + X1900XT Crossfire = VERY VERY happy dude
DFI (REV 3 ) + X1900XT + X1900XT CRossfire = Only Happy dude if you get rev 3 , they are rock solid stable and newegg only ship them
Asus Crossfire mobp + X1900XT + X1900XT CRossfire = happy dude
++++ HDR with AA
+++ SUPPER AA
++ AVIVO 1080p H264 and the AVIVO Video converter which is the fastest i have seen

ALL of DFI major issues are fixed on the crossfire mobo with the latest rev and thoes mobo are cool :)

7800GTX 256MB SLI = Very sad dude :! no HDR With AA and not awesome Image quality

This is the most asked question ever...im not fond of crossfire but a single x1900 keeps up with 2 7800gts and with newer shader heavy titles it will severly outperform them...but since 2 7800 gt are enough for current games you shouldnt bother
