this happened today. I left the puter for a few hours, and screensaver was on, and then I came back, and i see these horizontal shadow/streaks on the monitor.
a pic can be seen here. in real life the shadows are even darker

I have a Creative Geforce256 DDR 32mb
Dell p2-400
Win98 SE

I borrowed a lap top and plugged it in. looked fine.
then i reinstalled the Geforce drivers, problem still exist.
I know it is not the monitor, so it must be the card

any suggestions as to how I should go about fixing this?

Thanks in advance.:(

Reseat the card, monitor cable.
Might be a bad connection somewhere.

Or it might be refresh rate problem.
Uninstall both videocard and monitor drivers completely.
Check how it works in VGA mode.
Then get monitor driver from Dell website and Nvidia 11.01

EDIT
BTW I have the same monitor and videocard. (XPS R400 ? )
Looks like you are in need of c600@900 or something. :)

tried reseating the card, and cable no luck
tried refresh rate, 256, 16 bit, 32 bit color, and resolution, no luck.
removed and reinstalled the vid and monitor drivers, no luck

and yeah, it's an XPS R-400, definitely need a faster puter for EA's 2002 series of games. :)

I have had this before with Nvidia tnt m64's

It's like a filter failed, only fix is to replace the card
