Hello, I've had problems with the Evga GeForce PCX 6600 256MB DDR crashing & re-booting my computer with the Microsoft error message:
STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER

I use a dual OS; one dedicated for music using XP SP1 (GigaSampler3 which loads one gig of audio wavs into memory, Sonar, Waves fx plug-ins) & there's no problems or crashes using the Geforce.
The crashes happen using my main O.S. c drive using XP SP2 & seems to crash more frequently when I'm on the internet using I.E. Explorer & Outlook Express but will crash offline using various software programs. No rhyme or reason, I'm not using it for gaming either just basic operation..

I removed the GeForce & installed my old 3dfx Voodoo3 which is working fine, slow but no crashes so I assume the problem is either the GeForce or the combo with XP2 or bios
settings?? Anyone have a similar problem or suggestions or fix? I've installed the latest
drivers ( uninstalling the old ones first) completely disabled video acceleration, removed all anti-virus/ firewalls etc. &
still the problem occurs. Maybe bios settings but what? (I'm not using Hyperthreading, not
overclocked.) I've also do not use the DEP features on my major software programs, no system restore/ set for best performance/ memory using set for programs/ virtual memory- page file on both o.s.'s is 2047 MB..

My setup includes: Asus P5AD2 Deluxe Pentium4 (755) 560 3.6 GHz Ram OCZ PC4200 DDR2 Platinum EB DC - 2x 512mb (2) Hard Drive WD SATA Raptor 36GB
Video Card: Evga GeForce PCX 6600 256MB DDR
Controllers Promise FastTrak S150 TX2 RAID Controller Card CPU
Thermaltake Jungle P4 775 CPU Fan Sparkle 460W Dual Xeon Power Supply

I don't understand the tech stuff but can follow basic explanations!.
Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Yeah, any time you see this "infinite loop" error it is typically a hardware problem. Either the card is overheating, or it overheated before and was damaged, or there is a problem with the BIOS settings. Something is causing the hardware not to do what the driver expects it to do.

Thanks Markbnj.. I also looked at the card & notice that there's clear silicone that's loose where the card plugs into the slot . It doesn't look like it was originally part of the card & don't know where this is from.. Maybe it's a result of overheating ??
