GeForce N7600GS = Graphics Card HELL

Hi ,

I just bought a new graphics card for my mother pc . I bought a GeForce N7600GS to replace the Old GeForce 6200TC that was already in there .

Playing RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 the GeForce 6200TC averaged about 30FPS Lowest settings .

The N7600GS does about 10/12 FPS at the lowest settings .

Ive tried about 15/20 different drivers for this card .

The system is an Abit NF7-S v2.0 , Athlon XP 3200+ , and 2 x 1 Gb GeIL PC3200 .

Nowi bought 2 x PNY GeForce 6600GT's for my brothers PC and it runs RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 at nearly highest settings about 50/60FPS and Doom 3 at about 60FPS.

Can you recommend a card that will perform similar to the 2 x 6600GT's for the AGP Platform .

My mother has waited ages to get the mo ney for a new card and that Piece of Crap was such a letdown .

7600GS is pretty poor compared to even previous generation cards....but it shouldn't be running slower than a 6200TC....

In any case, a 7600GT would've been a much faster part, but I believe the 1950pro is currently the fastest AGP card available? Can be had for a nice price too I believe. Should make your mother happy.

Something is seriously wrong. The 7600GS is a bit faster than the 6600GT, and MUCH MUCH faster than a 6200TC.

Have you got all the software discs? Since you've already jumped through hoops on drivers, I think it's high time for a clean install.

Did you run driver cleaner?

And, did you plug in the external power connector on the 7600GS?

That "piece of crap" your referencing should flat blow the doors off of that 6200TC. I mean night and day difference.

Follow the instructions exactly to the letter. No shortcuts.

Download the latest WHQL drivers from Nvidia's site here:

If you have Windows XP. Choose the driver for your operating system.

Yeah ive ran Driver cleaner everytime i reinstall a different driver release . Power plug was in from the start .

It comes with ASUS Enhanched Drivers and theres nothing enhanched about them , they performed the worse , i could only get 6/7 FPS Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 @ 1024 x 768 with everything off the people looked like walking 2D Shapes .


I cant even get my money back , because i fitted a fan to it , it was a fanless card but games kept crashing [ blue screen ] .


Ive also installed Windows XP MCE 2005 3 Times .

I think im going to just get a new card , i seen a 1950 Pro for £90 New. Would a 1950 Pro be faster than a 6800GT ?

If you can't return it, send the card to me so I can test it out. Leave it as is. Up to you.

Thanks for the info i ended up getting an ATI Radeon X1950PRO 512MB GDDR3 .

ATI Radeon X1950 Pro:shocked::shocked::shocked:


My motherboard is an ABIT NF7-S V2.0 so i wasent sure if the Graphics Card would fit on it .

I heard the Radeon X1950 Pro was the Highest Perfromance APG Card Available .


3 Minor Questsions :-

- 1 - Why does it need 2 x 4 Pin Molex Plugs ?

- 2 - They very loud , if so is there a way to quiet them ?

- 3 - Also How does ATI CrossFire work - You know nVIDIA SLi has a little Bridge SLi Bridge we'll how does it work with crossfire ? . Is there a Motherboard switch you use ?

I also have an X1650 For a smaller Media Center PC just to watch TV Shows and Movies .
