Geforce MX420

So I have one, now what I can't figure out is, the Mobo supports Sideband addressing, but it's disabled. I have an intel 845EBT board (i845E chipset) Does the card it's self not support it?? or does anyone know how to Enable it?

Thanks

Check out RivaTuner and enable the "force on" option for both the hardware and driver settings (you might have to go to the Power User tab and search for the "LockDangerSettings" option to disable it before being able to mess with the driver settings though). Worked with my CUSL2 and GF2.

😉 I'd follow PliotronX's fine suggestion but even if it works don't expect much of an improvement. The MX420 gets a lot of bad 'press' but it is much better than the GF2MX cards and not a whole lot slower than the GF2GTS while also having many other slight refinements. Since you are using a P4 2.53ghz it would make sense to at least stick a GF4TI4200 in there, or absolute least a Rad8500LE-128MB. It is always a good idea to have a well matched CPU and gfx card if gaming is in any way improtant, if anything it's makes a LOT more sense to have a less capable CPU with a good gfx card!

I was planning on Getting a Ti4600 or a 9700Pro

😱 Not really much point choosing a 4600 now, better to either save a bit of cash and plump for a 4200 or else get the Rad9500PRO or Rad9700. Still I can totaly understand wanting to maximise the potential of your currrent card whilst you save up for a monster, you'll likely gain more by o/c'ing than enabling SBA but it's all worth giving it a go 😉
