Hi,

I'm having a new computer shiped to me and should have it soon and have heard concerns about the sharpness of nVidia cards at higher resolutions. My monitor can handle up to 2048x1536@85Hz, however from what I've heard it won't be too sharp comming out of these cards. I don't need to run it very high, and 1600x1200 should be okay - however given the choice I would like to know exactly how high I can push it while maintaining sharpness and without moding my card just yet ;)

I'm starting out with a Gainward GoldenSample GF2Ti card to hold me over until I can get a GF4Ti4600 card. I've looked at the ATIs, however nVidia seems to have an edge with driver stability - which is an important issue.

It'll vary between manufacturer/model, some manufacturers have higher quality 2D in their GF12/3 boards then do others.

IMHO, the manufacturers with the best 2D visual quality out of nVidia boards are Gainward, VisionTek, and Elsa. LeadTek would follow in second.
The Gainward GF2 Ti is reasonably good up to 1600x1200, not crystal clear at said resolution but it's certainly useable. I would not at all recommend going any higher with it though.
The fact that you evidently have an extremely high quality monitor will most definitely help out slightly as well.
