GeForce is causing system to run slower!!! HELP!

I recently upgraded my Uncle's system from a Riva 128 to a Creative GeForce 256 DDR. For some reason the GeForce is causing the system to run slower than before. Now when he plays Diablo 2 (2D or 3D) the sound crackles. Even DVDs play worse and crackle. I thought it was the sound card but when I changed the video card it went away. How can I fix this? Thanks for any help.

Could be an IRQ conflict. You might try switching your sound card to a different PCI slot.

The Tyan Trinity wouldn't be based on the MVP3 chipset, would it? That chipset and any GeForce 2 have major issues with each other. My Diamond Monster Fusion (Voodoo Banshee) runs better than my GF2 GTS in my k6-2 w/ MVP3 motherboard system.
