I just bought a new video card a couple days ago its a PNY Geforce GTX 770. I have been using it for a couple of days now for my average computer usage like surfing the net and checking emails. But I just tried to play a game today and when I get into game the graphics get all distorted and blurry. Its hard to explain but everything looks terrible to the point the game is unplayable. So I don't know what to do, Is it possible my video card is bad? Also there is a lot of screen tearing even if v sync is on.

I have tried every fix I can think of:
*More then one game
*Changed hdmi cables
*Completely removed all drivers and reinstalled them, plus tried older drivers with no luck
*Checked all the settings on the tv
*Went through every setting on the video card
*Changed image scaling on video card

Some pictures to show whats going on: The last three are the best because I have one while in game and one while out and you can see the image difference.

System Specs:
i7 950 at 3.07 ghz
16 gig ram ddr3
750 watt power supply - cooler master
PNY Gtx 770
Sony Bravia EX700 (KDL-60EX700)
Asus Sabertooth x58 motherboard

If you have the option in your TV settings, turn over-scan off.

Edit - It might be labeled "full pixel mode", turn that on.

Thanks for the quick replies, yes I have been using this lcd display as my monitor for years, and its worked flawlessly. The video card I had prior to this one was an Ati radeon 6970. I will check and see if I have an over scan setting.

I looked at your article about using a television as a computer monitor and I wonder if maybe the dvi outputs would work instead of hdmi? I will have to do some further experimenting.

Alright I found a cable I had that goes from dvi to hdmi and it still does the same thing. And I looked for full pixel mode on my tv and couldn't find it, so I'm assuming it doesnt have it.

Are you kidding me? No the pictures do not have any viruses, I swear. I have the same exact post on tomshardware with the same pictures and tons of replies from wonderful people who have not gotten a virus or trojan from the pictures. For those that are alarmed i'm sorry and I can remove the images.

Anyways after talking with people via other forums and doing further experimenting I have strong reason to believe that its my display. For some reason it seems possible that it just doesn't like how the video card is trying to relay video to it, because I'm positive there is nothing wrong with it. I have now tried dvi to hdmi, reinstalled windows and all drivers, and tried a VGA cable with no success. So tomorrow I will get a second display and proceed to try that and if that doesn't work I will assume that the video card is faulty even though I highly doubt thats the case.

You sure you don't have Full-Pixel mode? The end of this post says that it is an option. I really think that is the problem, try digging a little deeper in the TV menu.

This issue is the same as happens if you connect a single link DVI cable to a higher than HD res screen. We would get this on our 2560x1600 screens at the office if we used a standard DVI cable rather than dual link. I guess your TV is HD so imagine it might be a resolution issue, where it's forcing 1080 but only sending through 720, so it skips every other pixel.

To me it looks like the resolution is set too low.

If you go into your screen settings, what resolution is it set too? Its quite possible the card is not detecting the correct resolution so its using a default 640x480 or something.

If the TV supports 1920x1080, use that. If not, then its most likely a 720P display, so use that.

I've seen similar effects when the resolution was set too high on a native 720p screen, it was unreadable. Lowering it to 720p made things much clearer.

I had the same problem with a GTX 570 and a Sony TV. I fixed it by going to the nvidia control panel to the Adjust Desktop Color Settings screen, and set the option labelled "Content type reported to the display:" as "Full-screen videos". Hope this works for you.

My video card is currently not overclocked its at factory specs. Also I did find full-pixel mode and it is on. I currently can run the tv as high as 1080p but I dont like to because all the icons on the desktop are to small so I run it at 720p so I know the resolution is there to handle it.

I currently believe this is the problem http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=716174 because the guys picture and issues looks and sounds just like mine. So I am currently trying to update the firmware, but its not working out becasue the stupid tv is not detecting the update.

Update: After finally getting my hands on another display I have determined for sure that it is the display and not the video card. Pretty much whats happening is the same thing that happened in this post: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=716174
In which I am assuming and hoping that a firmware update will solve the problem. I have how ever not been able to update the firmware because I have to use a exact type of flash drive. Just want to give "Pottuvoi" a proper thanks for this post.

Thank you very much for all the help!

Firmware update resolved the problem, it looks and runs great now!
