Hi guys, when it comes to techical advise.this website is the one to go.
I have a GeForce GTX 295 dual PCB version graphics card but it shows only one graphics device in GPU-Z and doesn't boot. I have 600W Cooler Master power supply with two 6-pin PCI Express power cables and don't have 8-pin power cable. So I use the 6-pin and the other two pins which are grounds attached with a cable to each other. When I turn on the power only the green light is active, while the blue one is inactive. fan isn't spinning %100. it seems first pcb has no problems recognizing the bios.

And classically one long and two short beeps from mainboard, though I use the on-board graphics to start the computer. When I try to flash the BIOS it shows me only the BR04 and just one GeForce GTX 295 device. So the second graphics device is somehow missing? Do you have any suggestions to bring the second one back. :S

First off I really would not recommend even attempting to plug two 6 pin connectors in an 8+6 pin video card. The 8 pin connectors are rated for 150W while 6 pin is 75W. If your psu does not have the proper connectors chances are that it can't feed enough power.

I don't know what you did when you modded the power connectors but you should undo this asap, hope you did not damage the card and find someone that will let you test the card in their system to see if it works.

If you are lucky it could be that the card just can't get enough power from the psu to work properly. It would help to know your full system specs though.

i have tried it with a ocz 600 watt which has 1x6 and 6+2 pins.the result is the same

Well i'm not sure what to tell you then. I don't have personal experience with any dual GPU cards though. Maybe our some times friendly focus group moderator can help. He is one person around here I know for sure had a couple of 295s.

Good luck.

I personally would of thought 600w is a little low to power the 295, especially when you already have an OC CPU!

If the PSU is not the problem (which it still may be) then there are two possibilities. One is that the second GPU/card is dead. The second is that if it had ever been disassembled (which is a bad idea if you don't know what you are doing) then one or both of the internal bridges connecting the two PCBs have unplugged themselves.

card is dismantled already.it looks like theres no physical damage on second pcb.i checked the wiring and soldering points or bad contacts looks ok.the thing is fan controller is in second gpu and it works too.imagine a dead card when you power on fan spins %100 and no boot at all that the second pcb behaves like that.is there a way to bypass second gpu and run the card only one gpu(unfortunaly dvi ports are on second pcb :()

Since you have the card dismantled, take a look at the PCB that houses the DVI ports.
Towards the rear of the card, just past the memory chips, you'll see something like this:

3 "inductors" I marked with Yellow. (that's what I call them anyway).
Gently check any of these and see if the dark grey "cubes" moves at all along the metal rail that passes through them.
Check both PCB's as they each have them.

thank you for your suggestions and helps.i really appreciate.i checked those cubes(think they are resistors or capasitors)they look okay each R10(cubes whatever it is :))has two legs and soldered well.should i re-flow the solders with a heat gun on second gpu?do you have any more ideas please share wtih me...

I was referring to the R10 cubes themselves, not the solder contact at the end of each leg.
Are the cubes "loose" or "firmly in place"?

Ok, well that's good at least. Now back to the original way you hooked up power to the card. You mentioned that initially, you used 2x 6 pin PCI-e power connectors to it. GTX 295 calls for a 6 pin and an 8 pin (or 6+2). Explain in greater detail how you filled those remaining 2 empty pins on the 8 pin connector on the card. What you used. A diagram would be good if you're handy with MS Paint, or a good old picture will do.
Basically I want to see what you were feeding into those last two pins.

I hope you didn't fry your card. Get a real power supply and hope it works. If not
next time you know to not do this kind of thing.

they look like soft scratches but i want to know if they killed the card.these data tracks can be fixed by flux?
