Just thought I should relive this issue. GeForce GTX 285 with shimmering textures. Drivers 285.96. This issue is a bit annoying and affect the game immersion. I hope NVIDIA fixes this soon. I am not sure if it is due to the less-than-perfect Anisotropic Filtering compared to ATI/AMD radeon 5870 or just a problem in the drivers.
Accoring to several forum posts this seems like an old nvidia problem.

- More to the point, we have yet to find a game where the difference between AMD and NVIDIAs AF modes have been noticeable; so technically AMDs AF modes are better, but its not enough that it makes a practical difference

Maybe he didn't check how it looked while moving around?
