Hello all.

I need a little help. Im looking for a good stable SLOT mobo for my
Geforce GTS 2. Im not looking for a fantastic board because I only need
it for a PII 400. I had a Soyo 6BA+ and it was not compatible with it.
I then got the Asus P3V133 and Im losing 20 fps then I got with my
Geforce 1 on a Soyo 6BA+. Im taking the P3V133 back tomorrow. Is there
a good slot motherboard that does not use the Via chipset that goes well
with the Geforce 2 GTS?

Thanks in advance

I have an Asus P3V4X with a Geforce2 Pro and everything runs great. It is a VIA chipset, but I really don't think your problems are with the chipset; there's probably something else wrong. Did you format and do a clean install when you got your new mobo? In fact delete the partition all together and then format and do a clean install. I would go with the P3V4X over the P3V133. It might be a litle more expensive, but it's a better board.

I did do a complete format.

Oh, I guess I should mention that I got the V7700 Geforce2. Kind of ironic I guess, Im having problems with a asus geforce on a asus motherboard.

This may be a stupid question, but you did install the VIA 4-in-1 drivers right? And if so, did you install the AGP driver in Turbo Mode?

Actually, I tried them, and they seemed to help a lot, but when I would turn off my machine and turn it back on, it almost seems as if the drivers were not there anymore..

Would anyone be able to tell my why my Soyo 6BA+ would not be compatible with the Geforce2, yet I had a geforce 1 in the board previously.

What exactly do you mean when you say that your Geforce2 wasn't compatible with you Soyo? What was the problem?

Well, I did not do it myself but the guy at the Computer Store kept trying to put the drivers on, but once it went to reboot, the screen would go blank or something and it would not accept the drivers. He tried both the asus and nvidia drivers.

You said the guy at the computer store did it? Have you tried doing it yourself because I've found some "computer techs" to be quite idiotic sometimes.

They said that had numerous problems with the Geforce2 on this board or something. Im suprised though, Ive always found Soyo to make awesome boards..

Ugh...the P3V133 is a very poor performer since it uses the Apollo Pro 133 (693, NOT the 694 133A)....that's why performance is not up to scratch. The chipset's performance is mediocre compared to the BX chipset and even the Apollo Pro 133A chipsets.....it's not the fault of ASUS, but see if you can change that board for the MUCH better and far more modern P3V4X.

The P3V133 is still based on the older P2B PCB...jumpers, 4 PCI and 3 ISA, only AGP2X. The P3V4X not only has better performance, it is jumperless, has 6 PCI, 1 ISA, AGP4X.

Or why not go with that new Abit slot 1 board...uses the i815e chipset...SH6 is it? Can't remember off hand...someone know if that's the right model?
