Which of these cards offers better performance? Which would you recommend, based on performance and price?

If I were to just upgrade my graphics card, these would be my options. I can't go higher because I fear my PC's puny little 375 W PSU couldn't take it. It handles a Geforce 9800 GT well enough though, which has a max power draw of 105 W. The 450, 5750, and 5770 have max power draws of 106 W, 86 W, and 108 W, respectively, so my PSU should be able to handle them.

Whatever the recommendation, I will likely get as much use out of my 9800 GT as possible and wait for the Geforce 500/Radeon 6000 series to release cards with around 100 watts of max power draw that beat these cards at performance. Unless my 9800 GT suddenly dies or something.

None of the above, I would wait for the gtx550 which should release in a week or 2 at around 110 watts and faster then all of them.

Really? I didn't know Nvidia was about to roll out the next step down for the 500 series. Thanks.

"The user who provided these results used four benchmarks for the test, 3DMark Vantage, 3DMark 11, StarCraft II and Call of Duty: Black Ops, and, according to ComputerBase, the 3DMark scores put the card right between the Radeon HD 5770 and GeForce GTX 460 (768 MB). "

I think the rumors point to Tuesday, March 15th as the release date (next week).

BTW I have nearly the same PC as you (2GB RAM and Vista) but with 2 X 9800 GT in SLI and am also waiting to upgrade myself to a DirectX 11 card at around this budget.

Going by Geforce GTS 450 vs Radeon HD 5750/5770 I would pick the 5770 is the GTS 450 is not overclocked. My Palit GeForce GTS 450 Sonic is overclocked and it beat my His Radeon 5770 most of the time so if the GTS 450 is not overclocked then get a 5770.

I got a GTS450 when it came time to upgrade. The 5770 is faster but also cost more. So for less than $100 AR the GTS450 won for me. Prices seem to have gone back up since I bought mine though.

But if the next card is coming out next week I would wait at least 2 weeks for the new cards to come out and also push down prices of old cards. That way you either get the new gen or the 1 step old gen much cheaper.

I would NOT upgrade the videocard with that CPU: Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 2.4 GHz

Here is why. When tested with an E6400 (barely slower) than an E6600, GTX460 only gets 1/3 to 1/2 of its performance. Scroll through the whole review and just see how slow your CPU is nowdays. There is no way to say this but a Core i5 2500k is going to be 3x faster. I would start saving for a better system. Alternatively, there will be almost no performance difference between any of the cards you listed with such a slow CPU. There is no point of even waiting for a GTX550. It is also well known that Fermi cards are more demanding when it comes to CPU overhead performance. So it actually makes even less sense to aim for a GTX550. However, the HD5770 is not much faster than a 9800GT (and this advantage just about erodes when paired with a stock E6600).

Exactly, its not much of an upgrade.
