Hi everyone!
I decided to upgrade my graphic card to go along with my 24" Acer monitor.
Atm
I have a Geforce 7900 GT I wanna upgrade to a 8800 GT.
Well my question is however noobish it may seem but I keep getting crossed views..
I Have a Gigabyte GA-M61P-S3 Motherbaord That supports PCIE X16
Now the 8800 on newegg and the website says its a PCIE X2.0
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16814130303
I've read on an ebay auction somewhere that PCIE X2 on the 8800 GT is compatible with the PCIE X16?

Is this true? or do I have to look for an X16 one for sale..
Just wondering before I buy it if it'll work with my X16 as I cannot find a motherboard that supports X2 and wondering why they made it for that.

Thanks in Advance

Pci-e 2.0 is backwards compatable. So you won't have any problem running that card in your machine-- pci-e 2.0 cards will work with pci-e x16 motherboards.

As you noted, there are very few pci-e 2.0 motherboards on the market yet. Bottom line- this is not like the AGP to pci-e conversion
