hey everyone, does anyone have any experience using a consumer level gaming board instead of a quadro? the things seem almost identical hardware wise, and I have a certain budget and I would like to use a FX5950 and dual xeons instead of a single xeon and a quadro...

the apps will be autocad 2004 and inventor mainly, the others are not video intensive.

That is a no-no. If you need a Quadro then you get Quadro. If you game then you get FX. The hardware is the same, but what you pay for, for the Quadro, is the drivers. They are different and are not meant for gaming. And the FX wouldn't be as good at doing Quadro stuff. The performance is very significant.
