Preorder a card that has no benchmarks?
ATI should follow their lead and take $800 preorders for the R400.

You are a moron, that Maximum PC bench is old as hell and it was done with a beta card an was totally
controlled by Nvidia. There is an NDA in effect and ther are no reviews yet.

Don't go insulting others so fast .

No it is not. What I mean is that it is not a real world bench, the card was a beta card and the drivers were beta as well., Its not
a "real bench" ..at least not one that you should use in your judgement as to wether or not you would buy this card.
Wait awhile , benches are coming.

It is wierd that Nvidia didn't send the review final card to reviewers (like AnandTech :) ) before they release it to customers.

I guarantee you they did send them out, but with an NDA. No doubt they will allow the release of benchmarks at least a day or two in advance of the release date.

It's interesting nVidia wouldn't allow MaximumPC to run any benchmarks that stress the memory pipeline, it's only 128-bit versus ATIs 256-bit. I think it really sucks it takes a PCI slot, *I* use all of mine, and don't want to have to lose one because of a crappy core design. (Very hot-running)

I remember buying a geforce 1 DDR and soon after new revisions came out, seems like those that want it right away are also the testers, my local computer parts wholesaler told me the cards aren't released to his company usually till six months later. either he is just slow or its hard to get your hands on some of these during the initial release. he said only the BIG retailers will get the first ones.
he also told me when he gets them they will cost $400-$500
thats why I shop at best buy, more than the wholesaler (what does that mean anyway? "holesaler")

Some of these online stores seem to get new release stuff pretty quick maybe they are in tight with some suppliers (who knows how this all works) ???

Nothing to see here folks, move along...just your average trolling.......

Maybe if you cleared all that legacy crap outta your system, you'd be able to spare 1 PCI slot

Yes, it only uses the 128-bit pipeline for the memory but the memory is the new DDR II which is supposed to more than make up for it but that's coming from Nvidia's mouth...

Guess we'll see when there's some real benchmarks ;)

*IF* the Geforce FX has truly impresive benchmarks, it would only make
sense for Nvidia to release them so that people will hold on to their
money a couple weeks longer, instead of shelling out on an ATI.

ATI in the meantime is actively dropping its prices and reeling in new
customers so that they spend immediately on an ATI instead of
waiting for Nvidia.

Nvidia probably knows that if current beta GeForce FX benchmarks
were released, it would make even *more* people buy ATI *now*.

This would also explain why ATI released benchmarks of the 9500
beta even though they were still beta and slow - because they
knew the slow beta benchmarks would STILL keep people from
immediately shelling out on a comparably priced GeForce4.

Competition is nice, but it's not exactly a game of poker.
