Ok, I've got an nVidia GeForce FX 5600 Ultra 128mb and i'm running on a P4 2.0GHz w/ 768mb RAM. The card isn't the best, but I get decent framerates. After the bmp-cache tweak for D3 I get a good 40-60fps on Medium Settings in MP. Also, In Halo I get a good 40-60 fps with 800x600 res and settings on high.

However, when I try to record with FRAPS, my framerates drop to a meager 10fps. :-( Even with lowest vid settings and lowest res on Halo, I only get 10-11fps max while recording in FRAPS (half-size, 30fps, no audio). With these framerates it's impossible to play. :

I have the latest drivers, so I have no clue what the problem could be. Any help/suggestions would be great. TYIA!

My first guess is that your system isn't powerful enough to handle it.

Fraps does have non-trivial system overhead and will slow down the video performance of most systems.
If you try to run Fraps and ATI tool for instance you get a warning from ATI tool saying fraps will interfere and give poor results while using the 3d view.

edit: Dapunisher has a good point also, gaming and video capture at the same time is asking a lot from that system.
