I am getting a new Dell PC that has the 5200 128MB DDR 8x AGP in it, my current card is a 64 MB Geforce 2 Ultra 64MB DDR 4x AGPI have read terrible reviews on the 5200

I also looked one site (trying to find it again) that rated the 5200 and most of the stats seemed below the Ultra, now how will it perform compared to the ultra, will it outperform it? The reason I ask is people say it is terrible for games, however my Ultra performs excellent in all games that I have tried. Does it just play horrible for games compared to other 128MB DDR new cards, or in general is it just terrible. Which would you use? Would it be a hassle switching out video cards in a dell pc? (meaning is the bios and everything else setup for the 5200?)

Well I got my system and did a 3dmark with the 5200 and scored around 5600, however gaming was terrible! Swapped the G2 Ultra in and got around 5700 on 3dmark, and game play is much smoother.

5200 setting in battelfield 1942 were low and running 1024x768x32 and it was a huge dissapointment, I couldnt even play the game it was so bad. Swapped in the G2 Ultra, cranked the setting up to 1600x1200x32 at high resolution and it runs so smooth! Why is this newer card with much more capabilities suck so much more than outdated technology? Oh well the 5200 is sold and am happy with the ultra!

Now the card I am getting does not say it is an ultra, what are the differences between the non ultra and the ultra?

Thanks for the link.

Difference between an ultra and a non ultra is just the clock speed. But the lower clock speed of the non ultra hurts it tremedously.

If you're a gamer at all, I would part with a few more coins and get a real video card.

5200=crap

save your money if your a gamer and get a more potent video card, it will last you longer and you will get your money's worth out of it in the long run. Im still sitty pretty with my "old" ti4600 and don't plan to upgrade until i really do need 2 and that won't be for a while yet

If you're happy with your GF2U performance, you should be happy with the 5200. That said, neither card is remotely great for newer games. If you're a heavy gamer and plan on playing system-intensive games like Unreal Tournament 2003/Half-Life 2/Doom 3, consider upgrading your Dell to a 9800. I see it's only $115 over a 5200 on a random Dell Dimension 4600 I tried to customize (I just clicked to Customize their default 4600)--that's an EXCELLENT upgrade, value-wise and speed-wise.

Heck, if you find the 9800 wasted on you, you could always sell it for $200+ and keep your old GF2U. :) I doubt you will after you try it, though. ;)
