Which card should I keep? I would think the FX 5200 would be faster, anyone have a link to a comparison chart???

TIA

This is the non-ultra that you're refering to right? Unless you care about DX9 compatibility, the ti500 would probably be the better of two. At least for me anyway. By the time DX9 only games come out, the 5200 will be so far down the rung of the ladder, it won't matter anyway.

I havn't been able to find a direct comparison of the two cards but from the specs...

Ti500
clock: 240 / 500 MHz
pixel pipelines/texture units: 4 / 2
memory bandwidth: ~8 GB/s

FX 5200
clock: 250 / 400 MHz
pixel pipelines/texture units: 4 / 1
memory bandwidth: ~6,5 GB/s

Would the FX 5200 actually be faster???

Well, we've all seen how clock numbers can be deceiving with the Athlon XP and the P4.

if you have both, run 3DMark2001SE and that should give you a good idea which is better. I'd think the GF3 is faster... but test em out for yourself. Post results if you can.

The biggest difference between the two will be DirectX 9 support. The 5200 has it and the Ti 500 doesn't. Take a look at this month's MaximumPC. They have an article that talks about which video cards will support the upcoming release of Half Life 2 and what kind of perfomrance each video card will exhibit with that new game.

In terms of raw performance the Ti500 beats the 5200. From Tom's Hardware here are the specs on Aquanox, 1024x768/32 bit.

Geforce 5200 52.1 pfs
Geforce 3 Ti500 58.1 fps
