GeForce FX 5200 vs. ATI Radeon 9600 Pro

Does anyone know the preformance difference I would get if I replaced my GeForce FX 5200 with an ATI Radeon 9600 Pro?

I know for DX-9 games the 9600 Pro will slaughter the FX5200. Just look at the HL2 benchmarks. On DX-8 games I think the 9600Pro will still be better.

Unless you play all your games at 800x600 with everything disabled on a crappy 15 inch monitor (please, God, no), the 5200 will be begging for mercy compared to a 9600 Pro. And if you're playing any DX9 games (you didn?t say), your best bet is any ATI R3xx (9600, 9700, 9800, etc.) for now. Any NVIDIA NV3x (5200, 5600, 5900, etc.) shouldn't even be considered in the first place for these types of titles, in case you're going to be making a purchasing decision based on this thread.

i have a fx5200 works fine fer me now......Dunno wot 'll happen wen HL2 comes out(if it eva des )...will be upgradin then....
