I've been looking for reviews and info for these cards..and am stuck.

Choices:
Geforce FX 5200 128MB DDR, AGP 8X TV-OUT
Geforce MX 4000 128MB DDR, AGP 8X TV-OUT

What would y'all recommend?

The price is about the same AR at Tigerdirect (yes, I know..it's TIGERDIRECT)..but so far I've gotten back every rebate I've sent with them..so my luck seems to be holding...

AR, the price is about ~35-40. Not high end, I know..but I'm looking at value. Basically, a 128MB AGP 8X video card is what I want....

Thoughts would be appreciated...

If I had a choice, I'd get something else. But if I had to choose between the two, I'd get the 5200 if only because on paper, at least, it is Direct X 9.0 compatible.

Wow..are these cards *that* bad?

I have a Visiontek Xtasy Radeon 9100 64MB AGP card right now and was thinking of a small upgrade.

Would y'all recommend something else entirely for around that price?

I'm open to suggestions..but can't afford much more than ~ $40 right now......

P.S. thanks for the recommendations so far.....

My advice is simple...don't upgrade if your budget is only $40. Save your money until you can afford something worth paying for.

None of those cards are gonna give you monster framerate improvement, so why bother? Wait til you can buy something nice.

ATI is killing Nvidia right now...Probably the only worthwhile thing in Nvidia is the NV series..
