I'm seeing a problem with a computer that has a new, clean install of Win8 32-bit (older PC) with a GeForce GT610 graphics card, and the CPU usage is always at 40% (system interrupts). I've traced it to the graphics driver, because when it isn't installed, the processor is completely idle. As soon as the driver goes back on again, the CPU usage is back. This is with the driver that Win8 picks up through Windows Update, v331.65.

Are people aware of a less problematic version of the nvidia driver for Win8x?

The problem occurs with both Win8 and Win81. I've also tried the latest driver, v332.21. I'm trying a clean install of the newer driver now as it seemed to make the problem worse.

- edit - Nope, 322.21 still no good. Same problem.

Are you installing the full driver package, or doing a custom install where you pick what you want installed? Do you have "GeForce Experience" installed?

Try 314.22 driver. Do a complete uninstall, reboot windows, clean registry with MV RegClean, install 314.22 driver with the option(clean installation). You only need to install audio and video drivers from the package.

Just the driver, nothing else.

I'll try a clean install of 314.22.

- edit - 314.22 doesn't exist as a 32-bit driver.

- edit 2 - yes it does, I had to look for a Win8 driver rather than Win81. Hopefully it'll work.

314.22 wouldn't go on without a fight (the installer wouldn't work so I force installed it through Device Manager), and it didn't help either.

I had a spare 8400GS so I tried that. Oddly enough, it works absolutely fine with any driver version.

Try to revert 332.xx driver for the original Win8.1 driver. It is based on a older branch, maybe helps.
