Geforce 9600 GSO

So I recently became aware of the new Geforce 9600 GSO from Nvidia. The card appears to be based on the G92 core and sports a rather unusual 192-bit memory bus. I'm a big "value" graphics shopper and I'm curious if anybody here has had any hands-on time with one of these yet. I'm looking to upgrade an aging 6600GT and think this might just be the ticket.
 
It's a rebadged 8800GS. It's a great card if you're gaming at 1440x900 or smaller. However, for only about $15 more, you can get a 9600GT.

THe 9600GSO on Newegg does have a dual-slot cooler that would keep it cool and quiet, but that's the only thing it's got over an 8800GS. Frankly, I'd get a 9600GT for that price though. The 8800GS is the way to go for $100.
 
But if you're going to get an 8800GS go for the EVGA model for $100 after MIR because it has a quieter cooler (the XFX model has a two-wire controller with no way to adjust the speed so it runs at 100% constantly--just read some of the reviews).

Or get a 9600GSO with a better cooler, or a 9600GT for slightly better performance (if you run AA+AF) or for just a bit more ($140 after MIR) an 8800GT is probably the best performance value available today.
 
Well the 9600 GSO on newegg (EVGA brand) has a higher core clock, better cooler and faster memory than regular 8800GS cards. It is most likely faster or just as fast as a stock 9600GT, at least at 1280x1024 ish resolutions.

Stock, sure. However, they'll overclock to the same levels because they're *the same card*.

No it's clocked exactly the same under a different name with a better cooler for more money after rebate. Kind of a moot point cause the stock 8800gs cooler does decent job even when overclocked to its limit. Low 70C on load when tested with ATItool at variable fan speeds.

Just got an EVGA 8800GS superclocked. Running at 715/1780/2010 my temps max at 61C under load with the stock cooler at 100% and I can barely hear the fan. Upgraded from a 7600GT with a Zalman VF900Cu and it ran warmer under load than the 8800GS. I'm very pleased with the card for $110AR.
