@PAINMAN:

Doesn't matter when you register your card, if it's on the second day or the last one. Step Up goes by Date of Purchase, regardless of when you register. I did the Step Up to an 8800GTS, and it was made explicitly clear from Day 1 by EVGA. Just FYI, hope this doesn't ruin your strategy ;)

So, sounds like I should keep the GTS for awhile and they MAYBE move to 8900? Wonder if it'll really be worth the cost though, or if you're gaming at 16x12 or lower?

Kind of redundant questions on my part I know, but Im curious as hell to see what my cards potential is!

How long was it till it was found out you could run TRAA on the 6xxx series?

IIRC, the EVGA step-up program is based on the *purchase* date, not the date that you register the card, so you may want to double-check that before making any final decisions.

*EDIT* As usual, beaten to the punch.

I will be surprised if the 8900GTX is more than a process shrink with a bump in clock.

When nVIDIA enables the missing MUL, we can expect some sort of a performance boost.

what is a MUL, and what is the substance of this claim that the 880 has missing MUL's?

cheers

hopefully, it will mean a fully functional GTS at a lower clock speed resulting from better yields, much as was evidenced in the shift from the 7800 to the 7900.

Yeah and in other news the Inquirer now has 25% more bullcrap.

I will be very surprised if it is not as munky said "smaller die, and higher clocks".

The Step-Up period begins on the day you buy the card (as stated on the invoice you have to give them), not the day you register.

Blimey, thats a lot of cards... choosing is going to be difficult. Not sure if I would want two smaller cards in sli, or one of the bigger boys.

I hate choice as it only confuses me.

One things for sure, if that list is correct the hardware sites are going to have their hands full for some time reviewing all these as well as the ATI cards and doing all the comparisons.

Hopefully we will see all of these cards fairly soon - as well as some decent new games! The gaming front is just so damn slow right now!

Why must you hate on the Inquirer in everything you post from them? They've been right what, a billion times now?

No.
