geforce 8800 gtx isnt working

so I just built my computer and I go to boot it up and nothing comes up on the monitor!

the fans are running on the card, the mobo has a red and green light...what am I missing?

I connected to pci-e connecters from the power supply, however...i also got some other hookups that im not sure if im supposed to use instead?

someone help please, ive been waiting to use this computer for over 7 hours now.

try this, turn on your computer, and then press the power button on your monitor, your monitor may be in stand-by mode.
I dont know, happened to me and I couldnt figure out WTF the problem was, till I randomly pressed the power button on my monitor and blamo, I had video.

Well, good luck anyway...

already tried that. it keeps going into standy mode...but i dont think that it is actually a monitor issue.
