GeForce 8800 GTS Default Settings?

Hi All,

I built a new PC with a GeForce 8800 GTS and WoW was looking unbelieveable. Only thing I realized is I was getting eye strain (I work at this PC all day) so I used Nvidia's "Display Optimization Wizard" to try and fix and it seems something got messed up. The part where you drag the Red, Green, and Blue bars back and forth to optimize gamma seems to have made my screen to dark and changing the brightness doesn't seem to fix it. I'm guessing me dragging these bars as messed with something.

If I re-install my drivers will it clear anything I did in this optimization wizard or is the setting somewhere in my monitor?

I have a Rosewill R912E LCD.

Thanks,
Ethan

Eye strain, to the best of my knowledge, is usually caused by a low refresh rate. But you should be able to reset to the default under the Color Management Tab under the Advanced Settings menu for Display Properties.

Try increasing the refresh rate on your LCD to the max your monitor can support. I can see a little "flicker" on some LCDs when they're set around 60hz.

I increased to 75hz which is the highest my monitor supports. However, this doesn't fix my issue of the gamma being all screwed up...any thoughts on how to reset this to defaults? 🙂

Go into nvidia CP go to Adjust Desktop Color Settings. Return those values to normal and you should be good

LCD's do not flicker at any refresh rate and you should always use that which is reccomended (which is normally 60)

OK, I found it, there's an option when clicking on the Nvidio icon in the taskbar to "Reset Hardware Defaults". This is under Custom Color Settings. I did this and the only thing that changed was Gamma from 3% to 9% and that seems to have helped. I'll be able to confirm tonight when I turn WoW on...

Thanks!
