Geforce 7950 GT KO use TV display, HOW?

Hi all,

I have an evga Geforce 7950 GT KO, There was an adapter included (it has 3 outputs blue, green, and red) Im connecting my composite cable to it. The problem is that there's no color. Is it because I'm using the adapter that came with it? It seems to be an adapter for component cables and not composites...or is there something in the Nvidia control panel settings that I could change to rectify this?? I'd appreciate any feedback!

Thanks in advance!

If it's a component adapter you probably need to use component cables. Not getting color can be caused by using the wrong cables/input.

Do you have three yellow video composite cables? Those should be 75ohm and equivalent to the Component spec.

You should check your settings too and make sure everything is plugged in securely.

I have the same card but haven't messed with any of those cables yet.

Can you tell me what version drivers you are using with the card and if you game?

Hi all, seems like my suspicion as well as yours were right, due to it being component cables I tried it out on my HDTV with component cables and I'm seeing colors. I guess I need to get an S-Video to Composite adapter. Im also assuming I need to use one specific for Geforce? because my s-video to composite ATI adapter doesnt work with this video card.

de8212, I have driver ver 93.71_forceware. You can go to evga.com and download the latest driver from there. I do game (mainly Bf2) but I bought this card due to Splinter Cell 4 (which my old ATI could not handle). I'm running Bf2 on the highest video settings and it works like a champ, runs very smoothly - the quality is so amazing.

This video card or rather buying splinter cell 4 to begin with was the most expensive thing I've done to just play a game. By buying the game I ended up having to buy this card which meant I had to buy a new mobo (since my old one did not have PCI 16xpress) and then I had to buy a new CPU and lastly I had to buy a new PSU (since the video card requires min of 400W)!

Well the composite cable I have is a standard black one, I got that one mainly because it's long so it can reach my TV. Do you know where I can buy the three yellow video composite cables (for fairly cheap) and have it extended by current cable since it is long enough to wrap around my room to the TV?

I'm confused... you were trying to use component output and hooking it up to a composite input on your TV?

I thought the situation was that you were hooking the component output to a component input and using composite cables.

What's going on?

Well I wasn't sure what the adapter was to begin with, although my initial thought was that it was component since it had 3 cables attached to the adapter. Anyways, I need to get a new adapter (S-Video), apparently it's suppose to be included with the video card but I do not see it so I will have to contact the manufacturer and/or the place I bought it (mwave).

But here's another question. My previous card, an ATI card, had an s-video to composite adapter. Can I use it for this card? I did try it but it didn't seem to detect the TV. Am I doing something wrong or is it just incompatible?

It's probably incompatable then. There are several kinds of s-video and composite adapters that have different pin locations / numbers / assignments.

My component adapter for my nvidia card has the s-video output integrated into it (it goes from my card to 4 cables).

Are you talking about an adapter that will give you s-video in the end, or do you want to adapt an s-video output that you have to composite?

Random site with a lot of adapters if you find out which one you need

Thanks yoyo, you're right, I'm taking a closer look at both the s-video on the ATI and the one that came with my video card. the pins are located differently, i'm surprised my ATI card fitted into the video card's s-video port. My ATI s-video has a total of 8 pins, two on the top and 3 and 3 on the bottom. My Nvidia has a total of 7 pins and a black plastic thingy on the top which makes it resemble the two pins on the top of the ATI. In other words, I'm guessing the S-video for my NVidia is a 7 pin.

On another note, yes I want an s-video output that I have to composite, I believe the one that comes with the video card is S-video to S-video.

Based on that site, I'm guessing I need the s-video to 3 RCA? where I just really use one of the RCA cables as my composite?

Ok I managed to find an old s-video adapter (probably for one of my super old nvidia cards), and it has svideo and composite outputs attached to it. I hooked it up and connected it to my current composite cable, restarted and voila! colors. Thanks for the info yoyo, saved me some money from buying something I already had :)
