geforce 7800gtx vista problems

I installed nvidia's 96.85 drivers and it doesn't seem to be working. Nvidia's install finishes without complaing. But immediately after it finishes vista complains that the driver didn't install correctly. I see the following in the properties for the device driver:

Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot?
