lol...i dont think theyll release a 512mb as its useless releasing one at such insane prices. they might have taken a cue from the 6800U but i could be wrong ofcourse.
 
Yeah, I suspect the 512M 6800U sold through just about zero, as there aren't really games yet that'll use it, and by the time there are, the 512M cards will be cheaper.

Maybe the rumored 7800U will include 512M, or have a 512M version. I suspect if they do anything like that, though, they'll make sure it doesn't MSRP over $1000. $1000 is insane enough.
 
Current 512mb cards are gimmicky and offer no real performance increases. I wouldn't expect to see a real performer until HD resolutions are standard and a GPU 1.5 times faster than the 7800 GTX emerges, at least.

It lets you do two things. You can run with higher resolutions with more AA than before.(Assuming the video card hasn't already reached the limit of it's ramdac, as well as most moniters) You will also be able to play games better that may take advantage of the extra memory, which would likely be used for high res textures.

Chances of 512MB of memory being useful on cards of this caliber: 0.
