Geforce 7600GS TV-OUT to HDTV headache

Hello,

I'm trying to have a clone mode across my main VGA monitor (19 in) and my widescreen toshiba CRT HDTV so I can use the computer in internet/text and the TV while gaming and for movies.

I have a tv-out on my card that is connected by components to the TV. I can not seem to find a setting that will allow 1280x1024 on the monitor and HD whatever on the tv (720p,1080i)

Can anybody can tell me if what i'm trying to do is even possible? the 2 resolutions does not seem independant as I expected. Plus I cant seem to get real HD quality on the TV.

any help would be appreaciated.

Phil

Clone mode is limited to same resolution on each display. You'd have to enable "Expand my desktop...." mode, and make the TV primary for you to watch HD videos on it in a different resolution then your monitor. I don't know if you can still work on another display while video is fullscreened on the primary, though.

and quality wise would I be better off with dvi cable and dvi to hdmi adpter or use the analog tv-out with components cables?

thanks
