Geforce 7600 DVI refuses Sharp Aquos.

Geforce 7600 GS. Latest drivers.

DVI-D to HDMI cable into Aquos LC-32D43U, I've tried just about everything, nothing ever shows up on the TV for a moment. Analog works fine however.

I also tried on a system with a Radeon X300, it detects it correctly and functions without issues.

I was planning on an 8800GT, but now I'm not so sure.

When I mean nothing ever, I mean not even on boot, which seems to exclude a driver/software configuration problem. It appears the 7600 has some deficiency here. Is anyone using such a hookup on this or similar video card?

A 7600gt should work fine with that setup.

One possibility that might be happening is that the cable is not properly seated on the connector. The DVI-->HDMI cable has to be seated fully in order to function. I had that problem once using a 6800gt. The system worked fine on a computer monitor but not with the TV. It was driving me crazy. Finally I saw that the video card was slightly askew so I had to loosen the retaining screw and straighten it out. Once the card was straight and the cable seated properly on the DVI port it worked just fine.

That may not be your problem but it's worth checking out.

No that's not it. I also noticed I have to reinstall drivers every time I disconnect the DVI cable in windows, how convenient. When I plug it back in or restart, it goes black in windows.

Browsing around, I found another fella who has the same 'complete lack of communication' problem, coincidentally also a 7600 GS.?!

Of all the video cards out there I had to buy a lemon. I suspect there should be no issues with a 8800GT, but even so it's a $250 gamble.

Odd problem. Could be a faulty card then, or you might want to try to update the vid card BIOS if you're feeling frisky.

Don't think this is an epidemic problem with NVIDIA cards though. I have an 8800gts, 8600gt, 6800gt, and an FX 5700LE and they all work just fine. The 8600gt is dedicated for my HDTV and I've used both the 8800gts and 6800gt on the TV as well. That 8800gt should fix your problem and you'll be amazed at the speed and IQ boost you'll get from it.
