Ok, which would you folks go for? I know the 6800GT will cost me about $100 more, but it *is* faster. Help me decide....please make the case.

If you aren't oc'ing the x800xl sounds like the significantly better deal. Both chips are fairly competitive outside of HL2 and D3. I'm not sure how good the x800xl oc's/temps/reference hs/power etc...

I would have got the x800xl if I had to make the choice today. And at least you know that you aren't getting HD acceleration ;)

The biggest deal yet to come may be the x800pro. The price should drop since the x800xl is faster than the pro.

I think the X800Pro will just disappear, and not have a price drop... I'm still waiting for the $150 9800PRO 128MB 256-bit.

Between the two I would go with the X800XL. The 6800GT is a little better but $100 is too much.

well if you are going pci-e, compusa already has the 800xl for $299 . its over $100 cheaper now. i think if the difference were $50.. maybe, but for $100+ more probably not.

Go do a search in the video forum, there's a lot of threads about this already.

I'm not being a wrong forum nazi, I'm just saying you'll find quite a bit of info over there.
