geforce 6800gt and new lcd monitor

Your 6800 won't be that great with a 1080p monitor, but you could do some light to medium gaming. I saw someone here said their 6800 struggled with L4D at 1680 x 1050 so you'd probably get a little worse performance than that.
 
Thanks blankey. Would a 1080p with my card make the games lag? All I play is guildwars atm , nothing new. My crt is slowly drying and need to buy one pretty fast. Thinking about a Samsung now, and not the Viewsonic.
 
You should be fine for older games like guildwars just nothing like say Crysis. Since you will probably be buying a TN screen I doubt you'd notice any lag due to the LCD itself. What resolution are you currently using on your CRT? If it's over 1600 x 1200 you'll be fine going 1080p. If it's 1280 x 1024 or lower there will be a drop in frame rates.
