I'm upgrading my system to get maybe another year out of it before building a new one.
My question is, I have a 6800 (not ultra or GT, just a plain 6800) it has 128mb of ram, and am looking at getting a 7600 GS that is 256mb of ram, will I see a nice boost from this upgrade? I currently have an AMD athlon 64 and am going to a Dual Core AMD chip for an upgrade on the cpu.

Thanks!

The 7600GS is the slightly better overall. The 6800 would out perform the 7600GS in older games that doesn't saturate more than 128MB RAM. The 7600GS has better OC potential. If your 6800 is AGP there is a potential to unlock extra pixel and vertex units for extra performance.

Not worth the upgrade, there are far better cards than the 7600GS out there.

ya, do not upgrade. save money and move to PCI E

wait and see what 9800s do to general prices esp,8800s and buy it there :)
