Geforce 6800 is overheating?

I'm having a problem with my Geforce 6800 NU. Games like BF2 will lag terribly or crash at random times. And serious sam 2 runs at a very low framerate as soon as I start a level (when I turn to the opposite direction it runs fine, though). And my GPU temp seemed to get close to 90C when I was playing half-life 2. I'm doing stock speeds, and i'm sure the fan is cleaned. What's going on?

That's pretty warm. You might want to take the side off of your case or look into some additional cooling.

There is also the possibility that your card's heatsink is not properly attached(you could RMA it or, better yet, get an Arctic Cooling heatsink/fan for it).

Well, actully, I played hl2 again. And the highest the temp got was about 78c. But now it seems when I play BF2, it will freeze the computer instead of simply killing the framerate.

I've heard the Silencer's can be difficult to install, not sure if it applies to all Silencer models tho. Just something to be aware of though. There are other coolers out there that cost about the same and cool just as good.
